Winning the bus lottery.
Betsy and I were running late. As we walked we both saw the red river beauty turn down 45th. We stared at each other and began our usual run toward the bus stop. One thing was in our favor: the red light that would spare us a few seconds. I heard Betsy behind me "Don't give up Stuebes!" I could almost feel the bus breathing down my back and as we turned the corner and it became increasingly evident that we would not make it to the stop on time. Luckily, there are some good and very reasonable bus drivers on the red river route and this lovely fellow decided to make an unmapped stop for us! After riding the bus for only several weeks now, I have already realized how rare an unmapped stop is. Almost as rare as winning the lottery. So obviously Betsy and I felt special has we boarded the bus huffing and puffing. We took seats at the back to try and hide our faces from the snickering co-busriders. And, as luck may have it, we sat right next to two of Betsy's friends from high school (one of which she dated for two or three weeks)! Betsy enlightened me that only eight people from San Antonia went to UT and now three of them were all on the same bus! Well, Betsy's stats may be a little off, but still, what are the chances? Probably the same chances as winning the lottery.
